Hi folks, it’s been a while but I still live! And you can see all that life in its full 48 year-old glory at Nottingham Comedy Festival in a couple of weeks. I’ll be hosting shows, participating in shortform, longform, Star Wars and my solo show! I already need sleep, but it’s going to be ace. Join us! See all MissImp’s NCF shows here, and get your tickets booked – every night has a double-bill discount so make the Malt Cross your home for those evenings and see everything.
Friday 30 October – 7.30-10pm – Malt Cross
I’ll be hosting this evening, featuring the excellent Comic Harmonic (who blew away Totally Tapped during Oxjam Beeston – a gig I honestly thought would be very hard work, but they absolutely killed it), followed by Grapevines and the Vox Pops, a split-bill of two very different longform shows. I haven’t seen the Grapevines’ Starcrossed Lovers show, but everyone in it is lovely and funny, so I have high hopes for their romantic flummery. The Vox Pops build excellent skits and scenes off a guest monologist’s stories. You should see ’em.
Saturday 31 October – 7.30-8.30pm – Malt Cross
Mockbusters
I shall be hosting once more, but this time in the show! Myself and Katie Johnson (also see her Neurodivirgin show!) shall be hosting Mockbusters, a shortform improv – two teams playing fun games and the audience scores it! It’s a very fun show and I’m happy to have been brought into the fold.
Can I have some Improv please Bob? Mockbusters is Nottingham’s premier eighties young adult game show format rip-off/tribute act. Using suggestions from the audience, the teams will battle for ownership of the coveted hexagons as they race across the board by playing hilarious short form games. Help the hosts decide who gets to take home the title of Mockbusters Champion in this fast-paced, interactive and not at all shambolic show.
That’s followed by the immaculate Ben Pals – I don’t know who poet and performer Ben Macpherson‘s “pal” is on this occasion, but he’s such a talented performer that it will be marvellous!
Friday 6 November – 7.30-8.30pm – Malt Cross
Unspeakable Acts
One of the most fun shows I’ve been in. We take a page of an actual movie screenplay, read it with no context and then make up the rest of the story. It’s silly, fast and pretty smart. You will like it.
The improv show that starts with a real Hollywood screenplay before diverging wildly into a whole new story. The audience selects the movie you most want to see mutilated and abandoned, and the team – who may never have even heard of it – will spin the tale. Absurd, unfaithful, funny and endlessly inventive, these are the stories we’ll never see on screen.
Following us are Tales from the Darkive, which I haven’t seen yet but am very much looking forwards to!
Saturday 7 November – 7.30-10pm – Malt Cross
It’s A Trap: The Improvised Star Wars Show
This one is strictly FUN. A monstrous Lego Star Wars-style mashup of all Star Wars-ish things in a brand new episode!
Hilarious unscripted tales from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. You can expect a celebrated blend of Jedi, jokes and Jawas. Over the course of an hour, see agents on both the Dark and Light side of the force struggle to make their way through an ever expanding galaxy; on a collision course that can only end in a trap of galactic proportions.
Ersatz Natterjack: Spontaneous Story Machine
Hot off the back of being nominated for Best Spoken Word show at Buxton Fringe (!) in July, I’m back with another round of my solo storytelling show. I love doing this more than most things except for being asleep. Please come and watch – it’s a very full-on hour of my own brand of improvised nonsense.
High-energy wordsmithing, weaving spontaneous stories inspired by the audience. One man, two books, and no plan create an wild and impossible story. As the audience adds randomly selected words and phrases, embark on a unique, high-energy, and completely improvised storytelling adventure.
